Hamas official Osama Hamdan explained the group’s stance on U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan, dividing it into key topics such as ending the war, withdrawing Israeli forces, providing humanitarian aid, and exchanging prisoners. Hamdan welcomed regional and international mediation efforts and expressed readiness for direct negotiations. He stressed that arrangements must be made regarding prisoner numbers, body exchanges, and aid entry, and reaffirmed Hamas’s opposition to foreign forces administering Gaza. Instead, he proposed a Palestinian national committee supported by Arab partners to ensure unity. The Associated Press reported that Hamas has accepted parts of Trump’s proposal, including the release of hostages and ceding power in Gaza, though questions remain regarding disarmament and other clauses.
