2+2 Meeting: India to get US military satellite data; will China heed warning?

Updated on Jan 09, 2021 02:30 am IST

The third edition of the India-US 2+2 dialogue will take place in Delhi on October 27 amid the Covid-19 pandemic. US Secretaries of State and Defence, Mike Pompeo and Mark Esper, are in India to meet their Indian counterparts Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and Rajnath Singh. One of the highlights of the talks will be signing of the Basic Exchange and Cooperation Agreement (BECA). Although it may sound innocuous, this pact will help India get sensitive data from US military satellites. This assumes greater significance given the ongoing stand-off with China along the LAC in Ladakh. So will this finally force Beijing to blink? Hindustan Times' Aditi Prasad speaks to national security analyst Nitin Gokhale on the issue.
