After Lenin, Periyar and Shyama Prasad’s statues vandalised

Hours after the Lenin statue was demolished in Tripura, a statue of Periyar was attacked in Vellore in Tamil Nadu. The incident took place after a BJP leader H Raja posted on Facebook, “Who is Lenin? What is the relevance he holds in India? What is the link between communalism and India? Lenin's statues were destroyed in Tripura, tomorrow, in Tamil Nadu, casteist Periyar's statues will be destroyed.” Soon after, a BJP office was attacked allegedly by members of TPDK in Coimbatore. They came of 2 bikes and hurled petrol bombs at the office. PM Narendra Modi has condemned the attack and called for strict action.
