Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation via his 'Mann Ki Baat' radio programme. He remembered the contribution of independent India's first Union Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, in uniting the nation. The Prime Minister gave other examples of the Indian society bolstering the 'spirit of unity'. He recalled the response to the Allahabad High Court judgment on the Ayodhya dispute. Significantly, this came ahead of the pronouncement of a verdict on the same dispute by the Supreme Court.
