Ailing elephant Lakshmi dies four months after suffering from toe infection

Ailing elephant Lakshmi died after a prolonged illness in Corbett. Lakshmi was suffering from a toe infection after sustaining an injury. The pain had also made the animal aggressive in behavior towards forest staff. The nail was capped to avoid further infection. Lakshmi had also fallen unconscious and a crance service was used to get the elephant back to its feet.
