The death toll after the Bharat Bandh has risen to 9. Six have died in Madhya Pradesh, two in Uttar Pradesh and one in Rajasthan. The bandh was organised by Dalit groups in protest against the dilution of SC/ST Act by the Supreme Court. The protests led to violent clashes between the protesters and the police. Trains were blocked and many vehicles were torched. Curfew is still imposed in areas of Madhya Pradesh. A day after the bandh, a mob of 5,000 people from other castes set fire to homes of two Dalit ministers in Karauli, Rajasthan.
