Govt can support, onus on judges to expedite cases: Law Minister on backlog

Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad spoke at the Hindustan Purvodaya 2019 on the issue of backlog of cases in judiciary. The Law Minister said that government has been providing infrastructure to tackle the problem and added that the onus is on judges to hear and give verdicts. He also added that while expediting cases is important, all parties need to be given a fair hearing as well. RS Prasad also said that the government is not in favour of increasing the retirement age of judges.
