Delhi police on Wednesday seized around 700 kgs of illegal firecrackers from Jagat Puri area. The firecrackers were recovered from a flour mill. The accused has been arrested and the police investigation is underway. The arrest comes at a time when air pollution in Delhi is deteriorating while Diwali is on the brink of arrival. A spike in air pollution is observed every year around Diwali, due to the use of firecrackers. The Supreme Court had banned the use of conventional firecrackers in 2018. Green crackers, which cause 30% less pollution, were allowed to be used instead.
