In Kashmir, scenes of normalcy, support for move to end Article 370

Updated on Feb 26, 2020 10:25 am IST

As the government maintains heightened security in Jammu and Kashmir, the state administration released visuals to show normalcy returning in the Valley. Shops were seen operating and children were seen coming out of their homes to play. Locals also voiced their support for the President's decision to abrogate Jammu and Kashmir's special status. Many felt that the earlier system had only benefited the elite, while the poor suffered. On August 5, the Centre had announced the scrapping of J&K's special status, and the Parliament subsequently cleared a bill to bifurcate the state into two Union Territories.
