The Indian government clarified on the absence of ambassadors and high commissioners from European nations, in the delegation visiting Jammu and Kashmir. A group of 15 foreign envoys is visiting the Union Territory from January 9 to 10, 2020. The 15 nations include the United States of America, South Korea, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Fiji, Maldives, Norway, Philippines, Morocco, Argentina, Peru, Niger, Nigeria, Guyana and Togo. Commenting on the absence of EU envoys, the government said that all of them wanted to visit together and India was interested in keeping the size of the delegation manageable, given threat perceptions.
