‘Misinformation’: JNU VC on RTI controversy over server room vandalism case

Updated on Mar 13, 2020 01:20 am IST

The Vice Chancellor of the Jawaharlal Nehru University commented on a controversy regarding a recent RTI query. The RTI sought information regarding alleged vandalism at the varsity's server room. The alleged vandalism took place on January 3 and Delhi police filed an FIR on January 5, booking JNU Students' Union president Aishe Ghosh, among others. In the RTI reply, the varsity administration said that no CCTVs or biometric systems were vandalised in the server room. It was also clarified that the main server of the JNU Centre for Information System was shut down on January 3, and went down on January 4 due to disruption in power supply. While the JNUSU claimed that this showed that the administration was lying, the VC alleged misinformation in media.
