My First Vote: ‘Students must have freedom to express,’ says Ayushi

About 18 million people between 18 and 23 are estimated to cast their ballot for the first time in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. Hindustan Times' My First Vote campaign aims to reach out to young, first-time voters to understand what they want, and what issues matter most to them. 20-year-old college student Ayushi says that government must focus on “safety of students” in today's politically-charged environment. “I don't think students have the freedom to express themselves both in and out of campus. The incoming government must pay special attention to ensuring that freedom,” she adds.
