Seeking to have a deep impact on India's political scene in her first electoral battle, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra kick-started the party's election campaign in Uttar Pradesh with a 'Ganga Yatra' from Prayagraj to Varanasi. Before embarking on the boat ride, Priyanka offered prayers at the Bade Hanuman Mandir and performed 'Ganga Abhishekam' at the Sangam, amid loud cheers by the Congress cadre. Priyanka has been handed the responsibility of ensuring Congress' success in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
