After making a public apology over his sexist and misogynistic tweet on International Women's Day, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma on Friday said he never intended to be insensitive and was simply expressing himself through freedom of speech. Earlier on Tuesday, Varma tweeted, “I wish all the women in the world give men as much happiness as Sunny Leone gives.” And soon after the tweet, a women's organization filed a police complaint against him, saying Varma has gravely insulted women with his tweet.
