SC Judges Appointment Row: Ravi Shankar Prasad lashes out at Congress
Updated on Apr 26, 2018 08:06 pm IST
Law Minister Ravi Shankjar Prasad lashed out at Congress and said that the party has no moral authority to question the Centre on dignity of judiciary. He also said that Congress party's record is “littered with repeated instances as to how the judiciary of India was supposed to be compromised”. On April 25, the central government approved the recommendation of senior counsel Indu Malhotra as a Supreme Court judge. Malhotra is the first woman to be nominated to SC directly from the bar. Congress has questioned the Centre on asking the SC collegium to reconsider the name of Justice KM Joseph, head of Uttarakhand High Court. Congress leader Kapil Sibal has accused the Centre of favouring certain names in the judiciary.
