Watch: TRAI defends new rules making TV channel subscription cheaper

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India defended the new rules for TV channels. TRAI fixed Rs 160 as minimum monthly subscription price for all free to air channels. For 200 channels, maximum NCF charges revised to Rs 130, excluding taxes. While addressing a press conference, TRAI chairman, Dr RS Sharma said, “Under the new framework the MRP for a channel which was earlier Rs 19 has been brought down to Rs 12. Any channel less than or equal to Rs 12 will be able to be a part of the bouquet.”
