Eid-ul-Adha was celebrated with fervour across the nation today. Curfew continued in Kashmir and celebrations in the valley remained subdued. Prayers were being offered on the occasion. Eid al-Adha, also known as Bakrid is celebrated on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic calendar. As per the religious belief, Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated on the day when Prophet Abraham was supposed to sacrifice his son, but God asked to offer an animal instead. So, he sacrificed a goat.
