60 per cent voter-turnout in fifth phase

India's independent Election Commission on Wednesday termed polling in the general elections as "highly satisfactory" with an overall voter turnout about 60 per cent, despite the month-long process marred by 37 deaths. According to officials, the fifth and last phase of the staggered elections ended with about 62 per cent voter turnout on Wednesday.
