Big gain for BJP in Assembly by-elections

Emerging out after its poor show in the recent Lok Sabha and the local body elections in Gujarat, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won five assembly seats out of seven constituencies in the by-polls. The by-elections to the seven assembly seats were held on September 10 and the counting was held on Monday. The BJP won the Dehgam, Sami, Jasdan, Chotila and Danta seats while the Congress party won from the constituencies of Dhoraji and Kodinar.
