Updated on Oct 11, 2012 05:07 pm IST
After facing huge criticism for supporting Khap diktat on early marriage of girl child, former Haryana chief minister and Indian National Lok Dal Chief, Om Prakash Chautala today tried to cover the controversy by saying that he did not support the Khap's proposal. Chautala said that he was misquoted and it was up to the government to accept or reject the proposal. Referring to 17th century Mughal era, he alleged that the government had failed to protect the property and honour of the people of Haryana. He also asked Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi to take action against the Congress ruled Haryana government.
