Chawla takes over as new election commissioner

Leaving behind the recent bitter acrimony between them, India's election chief N Gopalaswami on Monday handed over the baton, in the midst of national polls, to Naveen Chawla. In January Gopalaswami had petitioned for the sacking of Chawla as an Election Commissioner from the three-member Election Commission of India.
