Congress denies allegations of ‘misusing’ CBI

Updated on Apr 16, 2013 12:50 pm IST

Dismissing BJP's allegation that the Congress is 'misusing' the CBI in several cases, including the recent coal scam, party spokesperson Rashid Alvi denied any wrongdoing. Earlier, an Indian newspaper had claimed that Law minister Ashwani Kumar met CBI director Ranjit Sinha, asking for changes in the agency's report on illegal coalfields allocation to private firms between 2006 and 2009 that it was to submit to the apex court. Congress denied the allegations and claimed that it was not aware of any such meeting. The BJP on Monday had slammed the Congress-led UPA government for 'misusing' the CBI in several cases, including the recent coal scam.
