Congress has asserted that the stabilization of the volatile situation in Assam must be the prime priority. Addressing mediapersons in New Delhi Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi said that there should be no room for either politicization or communalization of the ethnic violence that raged for nearly a week. Alvi also spoke on the controversy surrounding former Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Shahid Siddiqui, who was disowned by the SP for interviewing Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi.
