Global warming poses a threat to glaciers

The adverse effects of global warming are best experienced in the Gangorti-Gomukh belt of the mighty Himalayas. The glaciers which happen to be the prime source of water to numerous rivers flowing down the Himalayan range are literally going into the oblivion at an alarming rate. This in turn has become a matter of concern among the environmental experts. The Gomukh glacier is the source of the river Ganges.
