Government and opposition lock horns over EC issue

Indian government and main opposition locked horns over Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami seeking removal of a member of the Election commission on Saturday. Gopalaswami had recommended Navin Chawla's removal over charges of being biased. The recommendation to the Government to remove Chawla has created a flutter in political circles. Spokesperson of India's ruling Congress party doubted whether the issue came under the jurisdictions of the CEC.
