Government defers decision on Food Security Bill

Government on Thursday postponed the decision on Food Security Bill due to the absence of Farm Minister Sharad Pawar at the meeting of Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) on Food. Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee disclosed this after the EgoM meet in New Delhi on Thursday adding that the ban on rice exports has been removed for Maldives and the EGoM decided to extend open market operations for sale of wheat by another three months till September 30.
