Home minister lays foundation stone for ICP with Bangladesh

Home minister P. Chidambaram, laid the foundation stone for the construction of an Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Petrapole ,West Bengal on Saturday, to handle the movement of people and goods between India and Bangladesh. Along with Chidambaram, chief minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee and Bangladesh Home Minister Sahara Khatun, also graced the occasion. Speaking at the event, Chidambaram said ICP would strengthen the relations between the two countries and is likely to be completed by January 2013. The Indian government believes that movement between the two countries will be streamlined once the ICPs are constructed.
