People in Patna city of Bihar are continuing to reel under the intense heat conditions as the mercury has shot up well beyond normal levels. With the mercury hovering above 45-degrees Celsius mark on Sunday, roadside vendors of fruits and juices are all smiles as they are doing brisk business, while people take shelter from the scorching heat. The zoo authorities in Patna have undertaken a number of steps for the animals under their care to help them beat the heat. Special enclosures with thatched roofs have been erected at various areas and are periodically kept cool by spraying water.
