Indian jewellery exporters in Rajasthan, trading mainly with United States are incurring heavy losses due to the sharp rise in the rupee's value against the dollar. These jewelers get all their money in dollars, which is why they are incurring heavy losses. Jaipur city has around 900 registered gold shops and around 250-300 export outlets. An estimated 40,000 people in the city are directly or indirectly involved in the trade.
