Ailing CPI(M) patriarch Jyoti Basu continued to remain in a critical condition on Monday. Basu, who has been admitted to AMRI hospital in West Bengal, made a marginal recovery on Sunday, with doctors managing to keep his fluctuating heart-beat rate, blood pressure and urinary complication under control. The threat of infection and fluid accumulation in the brain and lungs still looms large though. On Monday doctors will test if muscle weakness and fatigue have set in. This apart, tests would also be carried out to assess the levels of sodium and potassium in his blood.
