Kullu hydel power plant benefiting residents

A hydel power plant, being operated by the local community in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, has become manna from heaven for thousands of villagers of seven wards living in the hilly region. Producing electricity up to 5 kilo watt using water from natural resources, the plant, which has been installed under a scheme of Stat's forest department, can cater power to 170 house holds. The total electricity generation in the State touched the level of 1295.410 Mega Watt in 2004/5.
