Lokpal Bill alone cannot tackle corruption: T N Seshan

Former Chief Election Commissioner of India, T N Seshan on Friday said that Lokpal Bill alone cannot tackle corruption as he highlighted the importance of electoral and judicial reforms in addition to a transparent central government to root out corruption from the country. Clearing speculation about his communication with Rahul Gandhi on the Lokpal Bill, he said he has never talked with the Congress leader. It is learnt that Seshan has prepared his version of the Lokpal bill. Commenting on his bill, the former election commissioner said that he is in favour of setting up a constitutional body like the election commission to look into corruption cases. With Hazare's health failing amid the groundswell of public support, a rattled government has been looking for ways to make the veteran social activist end his fast.
