Updated on Jan 22, 2011 08:41 pm IST

Indian Coast Guard officials on Friday said that the recent oil spill caused by bursting of ONGC pipeline holds no threat or damage to Maharashtra coastline. Indian Coast Guard official Mukesh Purohit informed mediapersons in Mumbai that due to the movement of sea currents in the opposite direction the spilled oil will not reach and harm the coastline of the state. Purohit added that divers of Indian Coast Guard are presently on the site of leakage, assessing the cause of the incident.
