Addressing a news conference in Hyderabad on January 7, the director of India's Defence Research Development Laboratory (DRDL) confirmed the induction of Akash, the surface-to-air missile, in the Indian armed forces. The 25-kilometer range missile customised for Indian Air Force and Indian Navy has finally got the government's approval after a series of delays and technical glitches since 1990.
