Obama receives Guard of Honour at Rashtrapati Bhawan, says he is 'honoured'

US President Barack Obama was welcomed to New Delhi on Sunday as he opened a three-day visit to India. Obama stated that he was 'honoured' to visit India again, adding that he was looking forward to participate in the Republic Day celebrations. He was welcomed at the Rashtrapati Bhavan with a booming 21-gun salute, followed by the inspection of an honour guard. The national anthems of the United States and India were played during the ceremony. Obama is the first US president to be invited to attend India's Republic Day festivities, which commence on Monday and mark the anniversary of the country's democratic constitution being enacted.
