POSCO controversy will be resolved soon: Steel Minister

Allaying fears of activists and the environment ministry, Union Steel Minister, Virbhadra Singh, on the sidelines of the 4th Indian Steel Summit hosted by the consortium of iron and steel industry at New Delhi on Wednesday, said the controversy over setting up of POSCO steel plant in Orissa would be resolved at the earliest. Last week, Central Environment Ministry ordered a halt to all work on the project, including land acquisition, while a 4-member panel probed if the Forest Rights Act that seeks to protect forest land and settlers had been violated.
