The Supreme Court today quashed the criminal proceedings against Mayawati in the disproportionate assets case. The apex court gave the verdict while hearing on her plea, challenging the CBI probe against her. According to reports, the SC claimed CBI's action against Mayawati as 'unwarranted'. The court has further said that the CBI cannot proceed against the former CM as there is no material evidence against her. Mayawati had filed a petition in May 2008 seeking quashing of the criminal proceedings against her in the DA case, lodged by the CBI over eight years ago.
