Skates… for textile workers
Updated on Aug 10, 2007 11:14 pm IST
KPR Textile Mills at Neelambur observed that random shuttling of workers from one division to another division of the factory resulted in fatigue and low productivity. The management came up with the unique work culture of its employees moving on skates to help them in multi-tasking. Eighty per cent of the workers in the mill are women aged between 18 to 22 years. They say it is easier and less tiring for them to move on skates than walking around.
