TRAI says no to 2-G spectrum auctions, slashes licence fee

J S Sarma, Chairman of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) in New Delhi on Tuesday said that Regulatory Authority has recommended that, the 2G-spectrum on which mobile phones work should not be auctioned. The regulator suggested that the licence be unlinked from spectrum and telecom companies apply separately once the GSM spectrum of 6.2 megahertz (Mhz) is commissioned.
