Self-Help-Groups at Leh in India's northern Ladakh are providing employment avenues to women in remote areas by training them in producing the finest quality carpets in the country. The government provides training to the members of the Self-Help-Groups for a month in making carpets and other handicraft items. Every winter, the members gather at their centre to make handicraft items, which fetch a good price in the market.
