First voter of independent India Shyam Saran Negi cast his vote for the 17th time on Sunday for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. 102-year-old Negi voted in Kalpa in Himachal Pradesh's Kinnaur. Kinnaur's deputy commissioner Gopal Chand escorted Negi to the polling booth inside a primary school. Dressed in traditional Kinnauri attire, Negi was welcomed by officials as a band of traditional folk music played local tunes after he was brought to the polling booth in a special vehicle. Negi had cast his first vote in the 1951 general elections.
