Just a day after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Donald Trump’s sweeping tariff order, Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva signaled he wants a direct, “civilised” conversation with Trump. Speaking in New Delhi, Lula outlined a broad agenda ahead of a planned White House visit, from trade and immigration to investment and crime cooperation. While stressing Brazil’s 201-year diplomatic ties with Washington, Lula also took a pointed swipe at unilateral tariff announcements made on social media. As global trade tensions rise, Brazil appears determined to reset the tone.
