More than 30 people including 16 infants have died in 48 hours at a government-run hospital in Maharashtra’s Nanded district. The dean of the hospital earlier attributed the deaths to the lack of medical help, but later backtracked, saying there was no shortage of doctors or medicines, though admitted that the hospital’s capacity load is frequently breached. Maharashtra government has ordered a probe to investigate the cause of the deaths which have triggered a sharp reaction from the opposition.
