- As humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, India has dispatched the first tranche of 2,500 metric tonnes of wheat via Pakistan. A total of 50,000 tonnes will be delivered to Afghanistan in several shipments. At the Attari-Wagah border in Punjab, Foreign Secretary Harsh Shringla flagged off the first truckload of supplies. The Union government had filed a proposal with Pakistan in October last year, asking for transit to transfer wheat to Afghans, and Islamabad responded positively on November 24. According to the agreement, Pakistan permitted Afghan vehicles to receive wheat from India at the Attari-Wagah border crossing. The trucks will then travel to Afghanistan's Jalalabad via Pakistan's Torkham border.
