$160 mn/hr: Cost of FB family app outage; Can Zuckerberg's apology defend image?

- Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp went down for about 6 hours on Monday costing the world economy billions of dollars. Reports suggest that Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg lost as much as $7 billion and his ranking in the world’s wealthiest men also dropped. Facebook, the world's most popular social networking site lost $40 billion in market capitalisation due to the outage that was caused by a configuration issue. According to cybersecurity watchdog Netblocks, the world economy lost $160 million per hour as millions of small and medium businesses depend on the Facebook family of apps for their livelihoods.
