- The U.S. Navy’s most advanced aircraft carrier has embarked on its first-ever deployment in the Atlantic Ocean to train with other NATO countries amid the fighting between Russian and Ukrainian forces. The deployment sends a clear message to Russia as U.S tries to secure the North Atlantic amid global tensions. The USS Gerald R. Ford began sailing the North Atlantic seas on Tuesday as the lead ship in a carrier strike group that includes six ships from NATO countries, several U.S. warships and a submarine. Among the nuclear-powered carrier's new technologies is the brand-new radar system that detect threats and the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) for quick deployment of aircrafts.
