Cong's quota move: Priyanka Gandhi announces 40% seats for women in UP polls

Ahead of Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra announced that 40 percent of the party's tickets will be given to women in the state. While addressing a press conference in Lucknow, she said, "The Congress party has decided that it will give 40 per cent of the total election tickets to women.” Priyanka added, “These tickets will be given on the basis of merit and not just on the basis of caste or religion."
