Cyclone Yaas: PM Modi reviews damages of storm-hit areas in Odisha

- PM Modi reviewed the post-cyclone situation and damages caused by Cyclone Yaas in Odisha. The PM also held a meeting in Bhubaneswar where the Odisha govt demanded long term solutions. It sought to mitigate issues of repeated cyclones, provision of disaster resilient systems. State govt sought no immediate funds to manage expenditure incurred in disaster management. Meeting was attended by Guv Ganeshi Lal, CM Naveen Patnaik, Union Ministers and others. The PM then left for an aerial survey to the worst cyclone affected areas of Balasore & Bhadrak. PM was earlier received by Lal, Patnaik, Dharmendra Pradhan, Pratap Sarangi at the airport. Cyclone Yaas packing winds gusting to 145 kmph whiplashed parts of India's eastern coast. The super cyclone claimed the lives of at least three people in Odisha & one in West Bengal. Cyclone Yaas, which made its landfall on Wednesday, left behind a trail of destruction. It forced over 21 lakh people to be evacuated to safe shelters in Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand.
