From airport, Amit Shah goes straight to home of J&K cop killed by terrorists

Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the family of slain Jammu & Kashmir Police officer Parvaiz Ahmad. Parvaiz Ahmad was killed by terrorists in June this year in Nowgam area of Srinagar. Shah, who is on a three-day visit to the state, drove straight to Nowgam from the airport. Home ministry officials said Shah offered his condolences to the kin of the police officer. Shah also gave documents of appointment to a govt job to the cop's widow, Fatima Akhtar. Parvaiz Ahmad was shot dead by terrorists near his house in Nowgam on June 22. The incident took place while Ahmad was returning home after offering evening prayers. Shah was accompanied by Lt Guv Manoj Sinha, Union Minister Jitendra Singh, DGP Dilbag Singh. Shah later reviewed the security situation & steps taken to combat terrorism in Kashmir Valley. The review meeting at Raj Bhawan was attended by top civil administration officials, Army, CRPF, police and other agencies. This is Shah's first visit to Jammu & Kashmir since Article 370 abrogation on August 5, 2019. Shah's visit comes in the wake of a spate of attacks on civilians, non-local labourers & minorities.
