ISRO's GISAT-1 satellite blasts off but ‘tech anomaly’ cuts off mission

• ISRO launched India's 'eye in the sky' GISAT-1 Earth observation satellite on Thursday. Mission, however, suffered a setback due to a performance anomaly in the cryogenic stage of the rocket. ISRO informed that the rocket's performance was normal in the first and second stages. Union minister Jitendra Singh said he has discussed the matter at length with ISRO chief. The MoS in charge of the department of space added that the mission can be rescheduled. ISRO chairman K Sivan said the mission, however, could not be completed successfully. Officials said researchers directing the mission didn't get performance data from the cryogenic engine. Mission's aim was to provide imaging of large areas for monitoring of natural disasters, etc.
